Gold at $4,181 (Oct 16) is down 5.5% in a month: it pays no interest, so higher real yields raise its cost of ownership. Caveat one bank estimates about $25 of the oil price is war risk premium and forecasts lower prices into 2027; a de-escalation would unwind much of this.
